We are delighted to be working with a long-established construction company based in Gateshead. They are currently looking for an experienced Bookkeeper/Accountant to join them on a full-time, permanent basis.
 
This role offers a fantastic, secure opportunity to work with a highly reputable, family owned North East business. You will be responsible for all aspects of finance for the company which will range from completing all accounts administration to producing monthly management accounts and supporting the MD in any related administration activities.
 
Responsibilities:
As a Bookkeeper/Accountant at this company, you will play a crucial role in maintaining all financial records and supporting day-to-day operations.
 
Additional duties will include:
  • Maintain the sales and purchase ledger using QuickBooks.
  • Process weekly payroll accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Responsible for CIS deductions from sub-contractors.
  • Ensure supplier payments are made on time & support with any supplier invoice queries.
  • Produce Monthly Management Accounts.
  • Ensure all financial transactions are recorded and documented.
  • Reconcile financial statements and bank accounts.
  • Assist with budgeting and financial reporting as needed.
  • Manage general administrative tasks, including data entry and record-keeping.
 
About you:
The successful Bookkeeper/Accountant will ideally have extensive experience in a small, or standalone finance role where you have been responsible for all aspects of the accounts function. You must be a confident user of accounting software with the ability to communicate with all levels.
 
  • Proven experience as a Bookkeeper /Accountant or in a similar financial role.
  • Proficiency in QuickBooks or similar accounting software.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll processing and general accounting principles.
  • Knowledge of Excel would be advantageous.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
  • Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • Prior experience in the construction industry is advantageous but not essential.
