Our client is a highly successful Engineering business in the North East. They are currently looking for a Control System Engineer to join them on a permanent basis. The Control System Engineer is responsible for producing the Control System Engineering deliverables for a sub-system or project.
The Role
Reporting into a Senior Engineer, the Control System Engineer’s responsibilities will include creation of documentation such as Software Specifications / Functional Design Specifications, concept design of the system and control system architecture, detailed design, writing of code / programming PLC’s / SCADA, supporting bench testing of the software, commissioning and final testing.
The principle role is:

Take ownership of the tasks assigned through to successful delivery within the specified time, budget to the specification and required quality standards.

Take direction from Lead / Senior Engineer and Product Technical Lead where required.

Ensure that design practices / guidelines are followed

Execute design tasks in accordance with direction and guidance from Lead and Senior Engineers, this can include but not limited to concept and detailed design tasks, supporting calculations, writing specifications, writing of code, creation of SCADA / HMI screens and developing BOMs as required.

Ensure that product safety is addressed throughout the design process so that a robust safety case can be produced.

Interpret mechanical, hydraulic and electrical requirements to ensure that the project is designed to perform as required.

Accountability for project delivery within specification, budget and schedule to the required quality.

Producing calculations and detailed analysis as necessary, without over analysis to demonstrate fitness for purpose of all designs undertaken.

Identify, review and track all technical risks, highlighting these to the Senior Engineer with a proposed mitigation plan.
About You

Engineering design and development experience
-
Educated to degree level or equivalent in a relevant engineering subject.

Knowledge and experience in design and manufacture of some or all of the following: Subsea vehicles, cable / pipe lay, LARS and bespoke onshore and offshore equipment.

Analytical and methodical approach to problem solving.
