Junior Technical Author - Durham

Our client is one the world’s largest OEM manufacturers with several sites worldwide including a large production facility in the North East. They are looking for a Junior Technical Author to join their established team based in Birtley on a permanent basis.

About the Technical Author role

This position will offer the Technical Author an opportunity to work closely with their Design Teams to create and revise Sales and Service Literature for Customers, Distributers, Field Engineers and Technicians.

The Technical Author will:

• Create illustrations and edit CAD drawings (CreoView/ISODraw) to complement or replace text in documents.
• Pay attention to detail, use consistent and correct terminology.
• Maintain the accuracy of all technical publication databases/records by amending them as required.

About You

The Technical Author will have:

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Production and publication of instruction manuals in related or similar engineering Fields
• Image Manipulation using illustration/graphic design/digital photography/photo editing applications
• Able to accurately interpret instructions for authoring given by Project Engineers including but not limited to wireframes, flow diagrams, mechanical drawings, electrical diagrams.

• Keen to learn about construction machinery structure and safety requirements.
• comfortable working with MS Office and have a keen interest or experience in computer programming or macro writing.
