Komatsu are recognised as one of the world’s leaders in the construction equipment field with Headquarters in Japan. They have been based in Birtley, Tyne & Wear since 1985 and have a large manufacturing facility where they Design and Manufacture a mid-range of excavators.

 

Komatsu are currently recruiting for a Logistics Controller which is a newly created role and will join their Purchasing and Logistics Department on a permanent basis.

 

About the role  

This role will be instrumental in ensuring that the Logistics Department is running as efficiently and effectively as possible by providing a comprehensive strategy and identifying any improvements that can be made across the Department.

 

The main areas of responsibility for this role will include:

  • Working with the Purchasing and Logistics Manager to review the current function and develop a three to five year plan to improve the Department and site efficiency.
  • Working day to day with our on-site Logistics Partners, Freight forwarding Companies and local ports to ensure key performance indicators are consistently achieved.
  • Seeking out and driving continuous improvement initiatives across the logistics spectrum.

About You  

  • You will be a self-motivated person with excellent communication and influencing skills.
  • Educated to minimum HNC level or above, within a relevant discipline covering Logistics & Supply Chain Management.
  • Have a thorough understanding of modern logistics/warehousing practices ideally in a manufacturing environment  
  • Experience of working within and driving a continuous improvement culture  
  • An ambition to ensure the logistics function provide a best practice service to manufacturing.
