Manufacturing & Quality Engineer - Morpeth

Salary up to c£35,000pa plus benefits including bonus, pension scheme, life assurance, on-site parking.

Our client is a world leading manufacturer seeking to recruit a Manufacturing and Quality Engineer to join the team at their Northumberland site. 

The Role

The Manufacturing and Quality Engineer role will be responsible for the control and development of all aspects of manufacturing and quality engineering including hands-on, technical support to the UK operations teams to ensure highly efficient, productive and cost-effective manufacturing.

 

  • Achieve targets relating to quality, cost, delivery, development, service, safety and morale
  • Continuous improvement using lean manufacturing techniques and ensuring compliance to industry directives, safety regulations and law
  • Design and develop new manufacturing systems, processes, jigs & fixturing etc.
  • Using CAD (3D & 2D) for all Design Activity
  • Development and maintenance of workplace risk assessments and Health & Safety management
  • Create and improve business documentation and procedures
  • Control of Process Release and Safe Launch Plans for new manufacturing processes
  • Working closely with global stakeholders
  • Effective use of AQPQ, PFMEA, DVP&R and Control Plans
  • Visit client sites and offer support
  • Coordinate internal and external audit activity (experience of ISO9001 and VDA 6.3 Parts & Process auditing is preferred)
  • QMS – creation of processes and procedures, policy creation and development
  • Control of Measurements Systems Analysis (MSA)
  • Supplier liaison, audits, approvals
  • Promotion of PDCA, Poke Yoke, Continuous Improvement, 5S, 6Sigma
  • Customer and supplier PPAPs
  • Control and monitoring of quality data

The Candidate

Candidates will ideally have:

  • HNC/D or Degree in an Engineering discipline (prefer Mechanical or Production)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment
  • Proficient in Solidworks 3D CAD, MS Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Oracle ERP
  • Strong communication skills
  • Practical and confident when working independently as well as effective team player
  • The ability to handle multiple tasks and a fluctuating work schedule
  • Flexibility for some travel in the UK and overseas
