Our client is a leading OEM Manufacturer based in the North East. They now seek to an appoint an experienced Manufacturing Engineer in their North East Manufacturing facility. Reporting into the Head of Engineering, the Manufacturing Engineer will be responsible for driving lean initiatives and deliver improvements within the business including quality, delivery and cost.

 

The Role

The Manufacturing Engineer will provide engineering advice and support to all departments in the organisation, especially about project, recurrent and systemic problems.

 

Other responsibilities will include:

  • Use Continuous Improvement and Lean initiatives to provide a structured approach to quality, cost and delivery improvements.
  • Validation and improvement of Component Drawings & Specifications to ensure optimum quality and cost
  • Creation and management of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
  • Validate and test new machines and products to meet design intent and feedback to designers any concerns
  • Develop test plans and software parameters for launch projects
  • Liaison with suppliers with regards to quality & cost reduction improvements and problem solving.
  • Root cause analysis of problems with corrective action.
  • Use of analytical tools to identify and quantify process status and improvements.
  • Working with & developing personal KPI's and measures of performance.
  • Use of statistical data to drive process improvement.
  • An understanding of production costing structures and cost down initiatives.
  • Comprehensive understanding of waste elimination techniques.
  • Promote a safe working environment using 5s principles.

 

About You

The successful Mechanical Engineer will be able to demonstrate a methodical approach with accuracy & attention to detail for all projects undertaken. With previous experience as a Manufacturing Engineer, you will have knowledge of Engineering planning, Project Engineering, Continuous improvement & Lean.

 

Other requirements include:

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering / Process Engineering discipline (experience considered)
  • The ability to interpret and provide Engineering instructions & drawings.
  • Understanding of hydraulic systems and basic electrical knowledge.
  • Using AutoCAD / Solidworks advantageous but not essential.
  • Previous experience of working with MRP systems.
  • Capable of working to planned & agreed schedules and timescales.
  • Must be self motivated, and capable of working within a group or individually.
  • An understanding of performance measurement and KPI's.
  • LEAN methodologies knowledge and application experience essential
