Senior Mechanical Design Engineer - Washington

This Mechanical Design Engineer role is a fantastic opportunity to work as part of a leading OEM manufacturer.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will be responsible for designing and drafting mechanical products and systems using solid works. You will be fully responsible for the change management and the whole product data management process.
About the role:
This role will have the opportunity to become a senior role in the department supporting the Head of Engineering in ensuring efficiency across the team and implementing any necessary improvements.
Other responsibilities for the Mechanical Design Engineer include:
  • Design, develop, verify, and maintain whole machine 3D models and modification to existing designs to keep in line with current legislation, continuous improvement, and cost reduction exercises.
  • Provide technical expertise and guidance to other engineers, ensuring that solutions are technically fit for purpose, reliable, serviceable and meet appropriate legislation.
  • Working with a team of people in the control of all cost, weight and product data structure for all current vehicles and new product programs.
  • Support of New Product Introduction and Engineering Change Management.
  • Collaborate with neighbouring departments including manufacturing engineering, quality, operations and product support to support the successful introduction of your designs into production and the field.
About you:
  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Control Systems Engineering or related field.
  • Minimum of 5+ years experience in an area of Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience of Designing Mechanical Structures using welded fabricated steel members, cast members and bushed and pinned joints.
  • Experience of 3D modelling using Solidworks.
  • Experience of creating drawings from CAD within Solidworks.
  • Understanding of design for manufacture principles for Lean Manufacturing.
